SageArchive is made by Reliqra, LLC. This page covers two separate things: this website, and the app.

The app

Your notes stay on your Mac

There is no SageArchive account or archive-hosting service. Your recordings, your handwritten pages, the text they are turned into and authored notes and saved summaries are stored in your macOS account's application-support folder. The app does not upload that archive to us. Your own backups and material you deliberately send to support are separate from app processing.

Checking for updates

Once a day, the app asks sagearchive.com whether a newer version exists, unless you turn this off in Settings → General. The request says which version you have and that it runs on an Apple silicon Mac; like any web request it also carries your IP address, which lands in the site's access logs. Nothing from your archive and nothing about your license is sent. An update is downloaded only when you choose to install it, and the app refuses any update that is not signed by SageArchive.

Optional cloud processing

Cloud permissions start off for new sources; upgrading retains your existing choices. Permissions are controlled by you, per source and purpose. The operation determines what is sent:

• Cloud transcription. If you turn this on for a particular source, the audio of recordings from that source is sent to the transcription service you chose, using an API key you supplied. We are not in that path and we never see the audio.
• Cloud answering. If you turn this on, your question and retrieved passage text are sent to the language-model provider you chose, using your own API key. Each passage includes its citation ID, note title, capture date, source type and any speaker name. The whole archive is not uploaded.
• Handwriting conversion. Optional cloud conversion sends page images to the conversion provider and uses the source's cloud transcription permission.
• Requested summaries and editing proposals. These use cloud answering permission when a cloud engine is selected. Summaries use the selected note's title and text passages, including citation IDs, capture dates, source types and any speaker names. Editing proposals use the note's title, text and your instruction. This can include the whole selected note, not just search excerpts.
• Cloud narration. With cloud narration permission, the chosen voice service receives the selected note's text to generate speech. Generated audio may also be sent for timing the reading. This permission is separate from cloud answering.

The permission controls select which cloud purposes are allowed. They do not provide a separate payload preview for every action: summaries and editing proposals can send the selected note's text as described above. Your relationship with the chosen provider is under that provider's terms.

Connected device accounts

If you connect a vendor account, SageArchive communicates with that vendor to authenticate, list notes and download their content. Inq pages first sync from the pen through its iPhone app into the vendor cloud. Plaud and HiNotes cloud use their respective services. Direct reMarkable SSH and P1 USB are different transports. Local AI settings do not stop account sync; control sources and automatic sync in Settings.

Local models

Speech, speech-detection and search models are downloaded separately from their hosting service. This transfers model files rather than uploading your notes. As with any internet download, the host receives connection information such as your IP address. Downloads and updates need a connection; local processing can work offline once its required models are available.

Your API keys

API keys and vendor sessions are stored in the macOS Keychain and used for the services you connect. Saved secrets are not returned to the settings interface as readable values and are not sent to us. Do not include keys or session text in a support request.

No analytics in the app

The app contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting to us, and no advertising or tracking software of any kind. We do not know how many notes you have, which devices you use, or whether you opened it today.

This website

What we collect

Before launch, the site kept a waitlist. For each person who joined, we still hold the email address, signup date and signup source, plus any device interests they submitted, and use it only to announce SageArchive and, occasionally, a new version. The site no longer asks for your email; downloading the free trial asks for nothing.

We do not sell or rent your address. Service providers process it to operate the site and deliver email, including Amazon Web Services for hosting and email services. Messages will include an unsubscribe link. You can also request removal by email using the contact below.

When you buy SageArchive

Checkout is run by Stripe, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record) and collects your payment details, billing address and email to take payment, charge tax and send your receipt. Stripe's privacy policy covers that information; Reliqra, LLC never sees your card number.

To issue your license, a small service Reliqra runs on Amazon Web Services asks Stripe for your purchase's status and your email address. Your email is written into the license key, which is how Settings shows whom the app is licensed to, and the key is emailed to you from support@sagearchive.com through Amazon Web Services' email service. If you use the lost-key form, the address you enter is used to look up purchases with Stripe and send any keys to that same address. So the form cannot be used to flood an inbox, a one-way hash of the address (not the address itself) blocks repeat requests for ten minutes; after that it no longer counts and is deleted automatically, usually within a day or two. When your license email has been sent, the date it was sent is noted on your purchase in Stripe, so it is not sent twice. The key itself is not stored: it is created again from the purchase whenever it is needed. Buying does not send anything from your archive anywhere.

Access logs

Like most web servers, this site's host (Amazon CloudFront) records each request: the page or file, when, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string and the country it maps to. We use these logs only to count visits, downloads and visits to the buy page, each day, as totals; the counts are what we keep and look at. The logs themselves are kept for two years and then deleted, are not shared or sold, and are not combined with anything else about you.

What we do not collect

There are no analytics or tracking scripts on this website. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party tracking scripts, no cross-site cookies. The site does not store tracking identifiers or preferences in your browser.

Web fonts are served from this website alongside its other assets. Loading a page does not send font requests to Google Fonts or another third-party font service.

Where it is kept

The site, its access logs, the email list and the license service are hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. For waitlist records, identify the address you submitted. If you sent support material, describe the request so we can locate it. Write to privacy@sagearchive.com.

Children

SageArchive is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you.
